The History of Web

CHAPTER 1

web-history

A long time ago, before we could access websites on our phones and computers, people had a real problem: how do we share information quickly with people from all over the world? Enter the web's first “builders” — a group of scientists and engineers led by Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee AKA Tim Berners-Lee in 1990s. They created something revolutionary: the World Wide Web.

The goal was simple but bold: make information accessible to everyone, anywhere. But how? By creating a system that allowed people to connect to a web of information — websites, pages, and links — in a way that anyone could understand and use.

If you are more curious, CERN actually hosted the word's first website on Berners-Lee's NeXT computer and please feel free to check out the first web address.

The next question would be, What is Word Wide Web (W3) ?

Years before the Web was introduced, there where different methods of communication among the computers such as Email, File Transfer etc. However, these systems were often complex, requiring technical knowledge and limited access.

The Web made the internet more accessible to the general public as, it was the first system that allowed non-technical people to navigate the internet using HyperText (Links).

Now, there are lot of terminologies based on Word Wide Web that we can introduce you to.   But I don't believe a person can actually concentrate and read more than 5 to 10 minutes.

Are you still curious on how Web works, Let's move on to Chapter 2 >>>.
